Congratulations to Sutton London Borough Council (LBC) for being shortlisted in the Net Zero category of the LGC Awards 2024.

We’re always thrilled to see our clients paving the way in their field and being recognised for their efforts, so we are excited to announce that Green Mark’s client Sutton LBC has been shortlisted for a coveted local council LGC Award.

A prestigious awards programme that’s been running for 28 years no less, the LGC Awards recognise and reward councils all over the country for their work in more than 22 categories.

Sutton LBC has been shortlisted in the Net Zero category for its Green Enterprise Partnership, which has been led by its collaboration with Green Mark and Sutton Business Improvement District.

At the core of the Green Enterprise Partnership is a first-of-its-kind ‘green’ tax incentive initiative, which reduces business rates for small businesses in the area that commit to become greener and more sustainable. The council is also committed to providing the businesses with tools, ongoing support, and accreditation to help them on their sustainability journey. It’s expected that each of the 77 businesses that have signed up to the scheme will each reduce its carbon emissions by at least 5% – a reduction of around 63 tonnes per year of CO2 emissions.

Our goal with this project is to demonstrate on the ground that businesses can achieve economic success by taking steps to improve their environmental performance.
