Bellrock is delighted to announce that two key initiatives, in partnership with client Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM), have both been honoured with a Green Apple Award.

Bellrock won a Silver Award in the Environmental Improvement category for its Environmental Biodiversity and Social Impact programme at Crayfields Park, a popular mixed-use development in Orpington, Kent, and part of the LGIM estate.

Crayfields Park offers office, industrial and community space for which Bellrock provides facilities management services.

The programme, in conjunction with LGIM and property manager JLL, aims to promote and encourage a more wildlife-friendly environment. Three beehives were installed earlier this year to help bees thrive and inspire community involvement along the way.

Andy Wilson, Community & Estate Manager for Crayfields Park, Bellrock Group, says:

“I am delighted with our Green Apple Award – the basis of our entry and subsequent win was to show the breadth of initiatives supporting our Environmental Biodiversity and Social Impact Programme and how they integrated with our beehive initiative.

“Our three managed beehives will improve biodiversity, support the reversal of pollinator decline as well as help our local community food bank social initiatives through the supply of our honey harvest planned for July 2025.”

The programme also included a survey of the bat population, with possible solutions to create more bat-friendly’ lighting in the car park, continued works to clear up the river to promote a healthy habitat, the introduction of a number of plant and tree life initiatives, as well the integration of environmental diversity plans with Crayfields Park’s social impact goals.

2024 marks the second year in a row that the initiative at Crayfields Park has won a Green Apple Award for its biodiversity efforts. Find out more here.

Bronze for Bellrock charity challenge

In addition, Bellrock took home the Bronze award in the Property & Estate Management Category for Mixed Use Partnerships for the Bellrock/Metcor Charity Challenge 2024.

The challenge was completed in partnership with Metcor Environmental. Bellrock is LGIM’s partner for FM integration while Metcor delivers specialist commercial drainage services.

More than £15,000 was raised for Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, through the challenge’s three events – a sponsored sleep out in Dover, a family Olympic-themed sports day at Crayfields Park and a scavenger hunt in Bristol.

Jessica Smith, Service Delivery Manager South East and Bellrock’s organiser for the initiative, says:

“I am so pleased we won Bronze in the Property & Estate Management Category for Mixed Use Partnerships, along with our partners, it’s such a prestigious honour. In total, we raised over £15,000 for Centrepoint through our fundraising events, and, hopefully, it will make a big difference to the lives of young people who are experiencing homelessness in the UK.”
